Trina turk sunset display

Trina Turk was looking for a complete overhaul of their sunglasses displays. The current POS materials were getting overlooked and sunglasses sales took a hit. It wasn’t enough to be a lovely product and be near the register with a mirror anymore, Trina Turk’s retail team wanted merchandisers that screamed: buy these sunglasses or kiss poolside martini hour adieu.

We reviewed and critiqued the existing displays. Our main takeaway was that they were boring. They weren’t specific enough for Trina Turk’s fabulous California style. We kept the bold coastal references and colorful Palm Springs palette in mind while developing a variety of countertop displays. The displays would be highly functional for trying on frames, have a condensed footprint, use a custom Trina pattern, elaborate logo finishes, and effortlessly catch the customer’s attention. After a few months, we developed a single-frame sunglass display, a single-frame optical display, a six-piece sunglass display, a six-piece optical display, and a 12-piece sunglass display.

Our excitement for the impactful displays couldn’t be contained but ultimately only one sunglass display concept was fabricated. It was the most unique of all five concepts and the most playful; The Sunset Display.

The Sunset Display concept was uniquely Trina Turk. The design was inspired by a very distinctive geographical phenomenon the California coastal sunset. If you’re from the Eastern Seaboard of the United States sunsets on the ocean are a rare occurrence. I had kept this phenomenon in mind from my first trip to Los Angeles many years ago and it finally had a vehicle to manifest itself. We created a mirrored platform to emulate the feeling of reflecting water which also reflects the vibrant colors of Trina Turk’s sunglasses.
